2014 Fall Workday

When we asked for volunteers for our BVV Fall Workday, we said that "Many Hands Make Light Work."  Anyone driving by Summerfield Road, Arroyo Sierra Creek, Bethards Drive and Creekside Road this Saturday saw this saying in action! 

So many community members joined with our volunteers and loyal Cub Scouts to make our lovely area sparkle. A huge thanks to all who participated or donated. Our Bennett Valley Starbucks again provided coffee. We could not have accomplished all that we did without the assistance of Dean Hamlin and Mike del Campo of Santa Rosa Parks Department. You're all the best!

Our Spring Workday was sunny and cool, which helped us to accomplish several important projects toward our goal of making Bennett Valley an even nicer place to live. We want to thank our loyal neighborhood volunteers, those who made donations to the debit account at Sequoia and provided treats for volunteers (including our Starbucks 'fuel') and all other donations throughout the year.  Not to be forgotten are our loyal Cub Scouts and parents who help maintain the cleanliness of the creek.

We could not have accomplished all that we did without the professional support we received from Mike Golas Landscape Design and EcoCut and Trim, Zero Emission Lawn Care.  Dean Hamlin, from the City of Santa Rosa went above and beyond to make sure we had materials and all possible safety measures for our volunteers.

SUCCESSFUL FALL 2013 WORK DAY!

Our heavenly Bennett Valley is sparkling more than ever after a very successful Fall Work Day.  Starbucks volunteers joined neighbors on Summerfield Road spreading mulch which should help a lot in keeping down weeds.  Those lovely floral median end caps (between Bethards and Santa Rosita) were pruned and weeded.  Some Bethards’ corner properties (between Bennett Valley Road and Yulupa) were planted and should be lovely in spring.  Much needed weeding tidied up the area nicely.  Creekside Road Park’s street trees were pruned, overgrown vines were nipped back, and weeds were whacked.  Alistair Blyfuss and his loyal wonderful scouts worked hard cleaning up the creek adjacent to Strawberry School.  And big thank yous for coffee provided by Starbucks which fueled our volunteers.

FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS-PLEASE JOIN US ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 12 FROM 9-12 AS WE CONTINUE TO WORK TOGETHER TO MAKE BENNETT VALLEY AN EVEN NICER PLACE TO LIVE.

LOTS OF HELP WILL BE NEEDED ALONG SUMMERFIELD ROAD BETWEEN PARK TRAIL AND BETHARDS.  WE'LL BE  SPREADING MULCH ALONG THE HILLSIDE AND PRUNING BUSHES ON THE CENTER MEDIANS AND SIDE WALK AREAS.
